JJI’s 10th Episode – It was LIVE

Tonight we did our 10th episode of JustJump.in.  To celebrate hitting the double digits, we did a live show on USTREAM.  It was SO much fun.  Check it out below.  I finally did my Zeo video review, which starts at around 17 minutes in.

Windows 7 House Party

The Box

On Friday October 23rd, I’ll be hosting a Windows 7 Launch party with my friend Salem Hilal (technoheads.org).  Today, the Windows 7 Launch Party Pack came in the mail.  One word: Wow.  Thanks, Microsoft!  Inside the box was a limited Signature Edition of Windows 7 Ultimate, 10 tote bags, a poster, playing cards, streamers, napkins, a table decoration, a puzzle, balloons, and some sponsored offers.  How much did I pay for the party pack?  NOTHING!  That’s the joy of it – All I did was fill out a form a few months ago saying I was interested, and now, as the Windows 7 worldwide launch quickly approaches, I was sent a box full of goodies, all at the expense of Microsoft.  Amazing marketing tactic, if you ask me.  I’ll be posting some photos after we have the party, but for now, check out the unboxing of the party pack.

What The Heck, Midnight Apps?

A snippet from my comment I posted here.

I’ve been using Cha-Ching since the initial beta giveaway through MacHeist 1.0 years ago. I love the app, both on the iPhone and the Mac, but unfortunately, I have to say I agree with you. I’ve never been impressed with this “company” in terms of release dates or customer support. They never communicate with their customers, ever. That blog post almost caused me to have a heart attack. Cha-Ching 2.0 golden master was supposed to be ready months ago. Yet, we’re still stuck with a beta that won’t even open. I did exactly what you did – I rolled back my clock, added yesterday’s transactions, and exported the file. I’m off to a company who actually cares about its customers and doesn’t give lame ass excused out all the time about how this or that happened. Midnight Apps has been, and continues to be, a shit magnet. Sorry, Juan. I love your app, but you have some serious work to do as a company. Maybe I’ll come back someday, but for now, see you later!

How and Why I Use Twitter

Over the past year or so, Twitter has become an integral part of my life.  Of course, when I first started using it, I was just like any other new person to Twitter.  I had less than ten followers, and I simply used it to tell my friends what I was doing.  At that point, it really was no different than a Facebook Status Update.  To be honest, I didn’t even see the point to using Twitter.  I kept asking myself, “Why do I need to tell these people what I’m doing?” and “Why do these people care what I’m doing?”  Well, since then, my thoughts on Twitter have greatly changed, and as I said, it’s now become an integral part of my life.

Zeo Review and First Impressions

About three weeks ago, I was on vacation in the Outer Banks, NC when I heard about this crazy new sleep gadget called the Zeo.  How did I hear about it?

Zeo Personal Sleep Coach

Zeo Personal Sleep Coach

I was browsing David Pogue’s website of course! He posted one of his normal goofy video reviews of the product.  After seeing the review, I immediately thought, “This is the most nifty product I’ve ever seen!”  Then, right after that, I thought, “Whoa, wait a second,  4 HUNDRED dollars?” (Edit: It’s now 249 for the entry model. See the bottom of this post, or click here, to get free shipping as well.) Despite the rather large price tag though, immediately when I returned home from the Outer Banks, I logged onto their website, http://myzeo.com, and purchased the Zeo Personal Sleep Coach.

LaCie iamaKey: A Review

Carrying around a flash drive has always seemed like a hassle to me.  It’s just another thing i have to put in my already crowded pockets.  The lanyards get tangled on things, the drives are small and easy to lose, etc.  There’s just a whole mess of issues with regular flash drives.  LaCie, on the other hand, has made the most ingenious product I’ve seen in a long time.  It’s the LaCie iamaKey, and it’s awesome [pictures are here].

Tweetie: A Review

So on Monday, 4/20, the internet was abuzz (I don’t do it, but notice the pun there) about a new Twitter client for the Mac called Tweetie.  Tweetie was developed by developer Loren Brichter under his company name, atebits.  What was all the buzz about?  Isn’t a Twitter client a Twitter client?  What sets one apart from the other?  Why on earth would anyone pay 20 dollars (15 as an introductory price) for a Twitter client?  Well, when using Tweetie, all of these questions are very easy to answer.

Bringing Harmony To My Home Theater

Logitech Harmony 550

Logitech Harmony 550

So if you can put it past yourself to ignore the extremely cheesy title of this post, you’ll probably find this post useful.  Like many, I’ve heard of universal remotes before.  I mean, I’m a geek, so I must have, right?  Well, little did I know that one of the technology companies I hate the most, Logitech, makes some of the nicest universal remotes on the market, at least, according to Engadget and Gizmodo.  For Christmas this year, I got my family a 46″ Sony Bravia TV, a Blu-Ray player, and a Home Theater system.  Including the cable remote, that’s four remotes.  What a nightmare!  Ugh, it was horrible; we needed to find a solution.  (more…)
