WWDC 2010 Keynote Predictions

Tomorrow at 10 AM Pacific Time, 1 PM Eastern Time, Apple CEO Steve Jobs will take the stage at the Moscone West conference center in San Francisco CA to kick off Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference 2010 (WWDC 2010).  The keynote isn’t a general media event just to launch new products.  The entire conference is for developers to interact with one another and Apple engineers to learn more about developing for the Mac and iPhone OS platforms.  There’s workshops, lectures, and a whole host of other things going on at the week long conference.  However, one of my best friends, Kyle Van Essen, is attending and is representing his company Vibealicious along with his coworker and friend, Joel Levin.

Even though the keynote isn’t mainly focused on releasing new products, Apple generally uses WWDC to announce a few things.  Here’s what I think we’ll see tomorrow:

  • iPhone 4G – Only for AT&T
  • Tons of info about iPhone OS 4.0
  • Mention of iPhone OS 4.0 for iPad (Perhaps a dev release)
  • Tethering for iPhone 4G / iPhone OS 4.0 w/ a small little segment from AT&T
  • Mac Pro hardware spec update

What we will possibly/hopefully see:

  • Free MobileMe for all iPhone users
  • Something in regards to Apple TV? Update, etc.
  • Safari Extenstions

What I don’t think we’ll see:

  • Any mention at all about Mac OS X 10.7 [Name Here]
  • Other US Carriers
  • Anything to do with iPods
  • iTunes in the cloud

Those are my predictions.  What are yours?  Leave me a comment below!

Hmm well mobileme free would be nice. I've heard a lot of people hyped about 10.7 mentions but I don't think it will happen either. I mean SL is great and its pretty much brand new.

I'm hoping mostly for iPhone OS 4.

I would love to see a nice new camera for the iPod. I would sell mine on eBay again to trade up.

This is gonna be the best keynote of all time!

    LOL!

Right on Mike. Maybe a Mac Pro redesign too?

I agree on most counts, but I doubt the Mac Pros will warrant a mention. Hardware bumps have been getting very little presentation time lately, so I bet it'll just be another quiet Tuesday update sometime in the future. As well, I doubt MobileMe going free so soon; I think it could happen eventually, but it definitely won't happen until their new datacentre is online at the very least. I'm thinking it's much farther off though. Same deal with the AppleTV update that must be in the works, I don't think it'll be coming any time soon. Especially not with now Jobs talked shit about the market just last week. Maybe this fall, or next year.

But yeah, I'm looking forward to it, even if there's going to be nothing unexpected presented. Even more so if it's true there's a “I'm a Mac” intro poking fun at the Gizmodo situation as I saw mentioned on Twitter.
