Apple Event Predictions

David Weiss from http://unweary.com/ has posted a “Prediction Score Card” for tomorrow’s Apple event.  Attached in PDF format you’ll find my thoughts.  Feel free to post what you think in the comments.  I’ll have a full post up tomorrow evening covering the event in full detail.

  • For the sake of outlining my predictions somewhere, so I can go "hah, told you so!" on Twitter should I turn out to be right:

Tablet: YES. As for the other details (as listed in your prediction sheet): whatever.
    iLife/iWork: NO.
MacBook Pro spec update: YES. No major cosmetic changes.
iPhone 4.0: I lean towards no. 3.2 is what's being tested, apparently, which wouldn't be the case if 4.0 were ready to be announced and Apple likes to go heavy with the demos with major iPhone OS updates. With the tablet the star of the show, I don't see there being time for much else.
    Touch iMac: Hahahaa no way.

It'll be interesting to see how it goes tomorrow in any case. With so many people creaming themselves over the Tablet, it's got some ridicuously high expectations - if it doesn't meet them (or it's not announced!), there's going to be a great fallout. I'd love for it to not make an appearance at all - there'd be riots worldwide and it'd be entertaining as hell, but I don't see it happening. But whatever, as long as the MacBook Pros are updated (in *any* way) I'm perfectly happy.
  • Hah, I imagine you would be. In order to get a new one...

As for iPhone OS 4.0, you may be right. I think my mind was thinking 3.2 when I wrote yes for 4.0. Oh well. Close enough.

And finally, yes, I completely agree. If there is no tablet announced tomorrow, stock will plummet across industries and the world will be just absolutely heartbroken. The CEO of McGraw Hill really spilled the beans today though. Did you see that? As Gruber says, "That’s a good way to get taken off Steve Jobs’s Christmas card list." Could be a ploy, though. Who knows?
  • The logic board in my existing system seems to be getting worse by the day now, all display related (natch), to the point where it's starting to give me headaches. (Temporary solution is use it exclusively with my external monitor, lid closed, but that doesn't work so well for class...) If the media event were next week, I'd just call it quits now and get a replacement - it's gotten pretty bad. So yeah, cannot wait for a replacement, whatever it ends up being.

As for McGraw Hill, yeah, I saw. That's a career ender, lol. Can't see it being Apple endorsed, because Apple's leaks thus far have done nothing but confirm its existence; it's Apple, there's no way they're going to leak more than that before the announcement.
